Shelf

The Shelf in Hydro-Calc is your personalized collection of substances. Think of it as your inventory of ingredients that you can readily use to create your nutrient mixtures.

What is the Shelf for?

Your Shelf serves several key purposes:

• Personalized Inventory: It holds all the Substances you intend to use, whether they are global substances you've added or custom substances you've created.
• Customization: Once a global substance is on your Shelf, you can customize its properties (e.g., adjust its nutrient analysis if you have a specific batch that differs slightly from the generic data).
• Mixture Ingredients: Only substances on your Shelf can be added to your Mixtures.

Adding Substances to Your Shelf

From Global Substances

1. Navigate to the Substances page.
2. Browse the list of global substances.
3. Click the "Add to Shelf" button next to any substance you wish to use. A copy of this substance will be added to your Shelf.

Creating Custom Substances

If you have a unique product or a specific analysis for a substance not found in the global database, you can create your own:

1. Navigate to the Shelf page.
2. Click the "Create New Substance" button.
3. Fill in all the required details, including the name, formulation, and its complete Nutrient Analysis.
4. Click "Save". Your custom substance will now appear on your Shelf and be available for use in mixtures.

Managing Substances on Your Shelf

From your Shelf, you can:

• Edit: Modify the details of any substance (global substances once copied to your shelf, or your custom substances).
• Delete: Remove substances you no longer use. (Note: Deleting a substance from your Shelf will not affect the global substance list).

By maintaining an organized and accurate Shelf, you streamline your mixture creation process and ensure the reliability of your nutrient calculations.
